CCTV footage of Sara Sharif’s family at Heathrow Airport was presented at her murder trial. The 10-year-old girl was found dead in her home in Woking, Surrey, on 10th August last year. Her father, Urfan Sharif, stepmother Beinash Batool, and uncle Faisal Malik are accused of carrying out abuse that led to her death. The family was seen in the footage at the airport on 9th August, the day after Sara died. They were captured walking through Terminal 3, going through security, passport control, and boarding gates.
Additionally, doorbell footage showed the family leaving for the airport in their car. The court also viewed footage of their car arriving at the airport parking lot. CCTV footage from the Co-Op on the High Street in Horsell showed Urfan Sharif entering and leaving the shop on the evening of 8th August, the day Sara died. Two days later, police found Sara’s body with over 70 injuries, including burns and human bite marks.
During the trial, WhatsApp messages between Batool and her sister were revealed, showing the beatings Sara allegedly endured. Pictures of Sara with bruises were shared, with messages describing her as “naughty” and “rude and rebellious.” Batool even mentioned that Sara might have a “jinn in her.” Despite the abuse, when Batool talked about going to the police, her sister advised her to calm down.
The defendants deny the charges of murder and causing or allowing the death of a child. The trial continues with more evidence being presented to determine the events leading to Sara Sharif’s tragic death. The CCTV footage and messages provide a glimpse into the family dynamics and the alleged abuse that Sara suffered before her untimely passing.
