Brits are known for starting to feel the Christmas spirit as early as six weeks before the big day, according to a recent study. The survey, commissioned by Greene King, found that nearly half of the population (43%) believe it’s never too early to start enjoying Christmas.
In fact, more than a quarter (27%) of respondents claimed they start feeling Christmassy more than six weeks before Christmas, with an additional 11% pinpointing the beginning of November as the start of their festive mood.
Events such as the turning on of Christmas lights (61%) and the presence of Christmas films on TV (57%) and ads (44%) all contribute to amplifying this Christmassy feeling among the British population. Additionally, enjoying Christmas drinks with friends and family (40%) also play a significant role in getting people into the festive spirit.
Leading pub company and brewer Greene King has announced the return of its festive tipple Rocking Rudolph, a full-bodied ale bursting with redcurrant and blackcurrant flavours, along with a malted toffee taste. For every pint of Rocking Rudolph sold, Greene King will donate 5p (plus VAT) to Macmillan Cancer Support, supporting their vital care and support for people living with cancer.
Rocking Rudolph will be available in pubs across the UK and in selected retailers throughout the festive season, with more information available on the Greene King website.
To celebrate the start of the festive countdown, Greene King has partnered with pantomime legend Christopher Biggins to host a Rocking Rudolph celebration. Biggins expressed his excitement about the early Christmas celebrations, highlighting the importance of spending time together and getting into the festive spirit.
“I love that as a nation, we are celebrating Christmas earlier which can only mean more time spent together getting into the festive spirit and season of goodwill,” said Biggins. “In the spirit of Christmas and thinking of loved ones, Greene King is also giving 5p (plus VAT) for every pint sold of Rocking Rudolph in pubs to Macmillan Cancer Support this festive season.”
Biggins added, “Christmas is my favourite time of year, so I was overjoyed when Greene King asked me to help them commence festivities in true style by hosting my first Christmas party of 2024. Known for my garden soirees – turning on of the Christmas tree lights and fashioning my Rocking Rudolph jumper really switched on my guest’s festive mood!”
With the Christmas season already underway for many Brits, the festive spirit is set to continue to grow in the coming weeks as people embrace the joy and goodwill of the holiday season.
