After the exciting men’s 1500m final, it’s now time for Team GB’s next medal hopes in the women’s 200m final at the Stade de France. Representing Great Britain are Dina Asher-Smith and Daryll Neita, along with competitors from the United States, Nigeria, St Lucia, and Cote d’Ivoire. Neita made it to the final of the 100m but narrowly missed out on a medal. Both Asher-Smith and Neita will be aiming to make up for that in the 200m.

Asher-Smith and Neita have already won bronze in the 4x100m relay in the past two Olympics, but they are yet to secure a medal in an individual event. Their chances in the 200m final may not be the best, as they are ranked as the sixth and seventh favorites among the eight runners. Gabrielle Thomas of the United States and Julien Alfred of St Lucia are considered the clear favorites for the race.

Neita expressed her happiness at qualifying for her second final of the Games, emphasizing the achievement of making it to two finals. Asher-Smith, on the other hand, mentioned that she didn’t exert much energy in the qualifying rounds and is saving herself for the final. She admitted to feeling “angry” about not qualifying for the 100m final but remains focused on the 200m event.

The women’s 200m final is set to begin at 8.40 pm. It will be interesting to see if Asher-Smith and Neita can defy the odds and secure their first individual Olympic medals in this highly anticipated race. Stay tuned for the exciting showdown at the track!
