Londoners were left in awe as the Sugababes surprised them with a live performance at King’s Cross. The trio, known as the “Suga Broadband Babes” for the event, came out of a billboard to sing their hit song “Push the Button” to celebrate the launch of Sky Broadband’s new 24/7 switching support service.
Commuters who pressed a button on the billboard were treated to a transformation into a stage, where the Sugababes appeared from behind replica elevator doors. The unexpected performance delighted onlookers, with one commuter expressing their excitement on social media by saying “OMG the Sugababes just came out of a billboard”.
The pop group, consisting of Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan, and Siobhan Donaghy, showcased their charm and wit by referencing their history of changing lineups and connecting it to the idea of switching broadband providers. They highlighted their songs “Change” and “About You Now” as reasons for fronting the Sky Broadband campaign.
In response to the event, the Sugababes shared their joy in surprising everyone at King’s Cross and promoting the ease of switching providers with Sky Broadband’s new support service. Sky Connectivity’s Managing Director, Amber Pine, emphasised the company’s commitment to making the switching process simpler for customers, drawing parallels to the Sugababes’ experience with change.
A survey conducted by Sky Broadband revealed that many Brits wish they could switch their broadband provider with the touch of a button, as they often spend months contemplating the change due to administrative work. The new One Touch Switch process aims to address the difficulties faced by consumers when switching providers.
In addition to broadband-related insights, the survey also uncovered what activities Brits would choose to do at the push of a button. From travelling to dream destinations to improving their wellbeing or instantly repairing things, people expressed a variety of desires. Interestingly, chores like cleaning the bathroom, gutters, and doing laundry were also mentioned as tasks Brits would happily make disappear with a touch of a button.
Overall, the Sugababes’ surprise performance at King’s Cross not only entertained Londoners but also brought attention to the convenience of Sky Broadband’s new switching support service. As more people express interest in switching providers, the collaboration between the pop group and the broadband company serves as a fun and memorable way to promote a hassle-free transition for customers.
