Reasons for Choosing Local
The decision to support local businesses stems from various factors, as highlighted by the research commissioned by Smart Energy GB. Among the reasons cited for shopping locally include the convenience of having shops within walking distance (55 percent), the sustainability aspect of buying locally produced goods (33 percent), and the personal touch of being recognised by shop owners (28 percent). Additionally, a significant majority (72 percent) mentioned that they have established friendly relationships with small business owners in their vicinity.
