The leader of Hillingdon Council, Ian Edwards, has written a letter to the Government urging them to fulfil their promise of building a new Hillingdon Hospital. There is concern that the plan for a new hospital may be under review, which has caused worry among residents eagerly awaiting much-needed improvements.

During a visit to the hospital in June, Health Secretary Mr Streeting reportedly described it as the worst hospital he had ever seen as an MP, highlighting the urgent need for modernisation to meet the community’s growing demands. Cllr Edwards reminded Mr Streeting of his commitment to deliver a state-of-the-art hospital during the first term of a Labour government.

The New Hospital Programme, which includes Hillingdon Hospital as one of 25 projects to be re-assessed, has been deemed undeliverable and unaffordable by Mr Streeting. Cllr Edwards emphasised the importance of fulfilling the promise made to the Hillingdon community and called on Mr Streeting to reassure residents that the new hospital will be built.

It is clear that the current Hillingdon Hospital is in desperate need of modernisation to provide better conditions for both staff and patients. The commitment to deliver a new hospital was made by Mr Streeting during his visit to the hospital, and Cllr Edwards is urging him to uphold his promise and demonstrate that he is a man of his word. Residents are eagerly anticipating the much-needed improvements, and it is essential that the Government honours its commitment to build a new Hillingdon Hospital.
