Tina Bond, a mum from Harleston, Norfolk, had a terrifying experience while on holiday in Mallorca visiting her sister-in-law. Just a day after arriving, Tina collapsed in the shower, leading to a diagnosis of a brain aneurysm and pneumonia caused by the aneurysm.

Her daughter Zoe Reeve had to wait four days to fly out to her mum due to an expired passport. Tina underwent emergency surgery and was on life support for three weeks, followed by a slow process of waking up from sedation.

Due to not having travel insurance, Tina is facing a hefty £23,000 bill to cover the cost of an air ambulance to bring her back home to England for further treatment and rehabilitation.

Zoe has set up a GoFundMe page to help raise funds for her mum’s medical expenses. Tina’s journey to recovery has been challenging, but she has shown incredible strength and progress each day.

Zoe emphasises the importance of travel insurance, even for frequent travellers like her mum, as unforeseen medical emergencies can happen at any time. The family is overwhelmed by the support they have received and look forward to having Tina back home soon.

To support Tina’s journey home and recovery, donations can be made to the fundraiser link provided in the article. Tina’s story serves as a reminder of the significance of travel insurance and the unexpected challenges that can arise while abroad.
