Shaping the Future of Uxbridge Town Centre: Seeking Views
In a bid to rejuvenate the heart of Uxbridge, Hillingdon Council has unveiled its draft Uxbridge Vision and is calling upon residents and businesses to share their thoughts and ideas. The vision aims to breathe new life into the town centre, catering to the evolving needs of the community.
Key Themes of the Uxbridge Vision
The Uxbridge Vision lays out a comprehensive strategy encompassing short- and long-term initiatives to transform the town centre. Four key themes emerge from this vision:
1. Public Realm
Creating inviting new spaces that will draw in visitors and provide support for local businesses is at the core of the Uxbridge Vision. This initiative seeks to enhance the overall appeal of the town centre and foster a vibrant community atmosphere.
2. New Activities
By introducing pop-up shops, collaborative workspaces, and exhibitions, the Uxbridge Vision aims to inject fresh energy into the town centre. These innovative concepts will attract new organizations and bring a dynamic mix of offerings to the area.
3. Better Links
Improving connectivity to surrounding areas is a crucial aspect of the Uxbridge Vision. Enhanced transportation links will not only benefit residents and businesses in Uxbridge but also strengthen ties with neighbouring communities.
4. More Town Centre Living
Providing opportunities for town centre living through a range of high-quality housing options is a key focus of the Uxbridge Vision. This initiative aims to create a vibrant residential community within the heart of Uxbridge.
Cllr Steve Tuckwell’s Perspective
Cllr Steve Tuckwell, Cabinet Member for Planning, Housing and Growth, expressed his enthusiasm for the Uxbridge Vision, highlighting the council’s commitment to making Uxbridge a thriving hub for residents, businesses, and students alike. He emphasized the collaborative nature of the vision, which has been shaped in consultation with the local community and businesses.
Tuckwell stated, “We want to make Uxbridge an even better place to live, work, study, and do business and to ensure it continues to succeed long into the future. The draft Uxbridge Town Centre Vision has been developed with the community and businesses to address their issues and needs of local people.”
Have Your Say
Residents and businesses are encouraged to actively participate in shaping the future of Uxbridge by providing their feedback on the draft Uxbridge Vision. This consultation period presents a valuable opportunity for community members to voice their opinions and contribute to the town centre’s revitalization efforts.
The consultation will remain open until Friday, February 28. To share your views and learn more about the Uxbridge Vision, visit www.hillingdon.gov.uk/uxbridge-vision.
As a local resident myself, I am excited about the prospect of witnessing Uxbridge undergo a transformation that reflects the needs and aspirations of its diverse community.
