Samsung has been making strides in improving its mid-range chips, with the upcoming Exynos 1580 processor looking to rival the Snapdragon 888 in terms of performance. The leaked specifications of the Exynos 1580, which may be used in the Galaxy A56, show promising results on Geekbench.
The Exynos 1580 features an octa-core CPU with impressive clock speeds, scoring high points in both single-core and multi-core tests. This chip is equipped with Samsung’s own Xclipse 540 GPU, which is expected to outperform its predecessor and even compete with higher mid-range chips from Qualcomm.
With four Cortex-A720 CPU cores and four Cortex-A520 CPU cores, the Exynos 1580, codenamed ‘Santa,’ aims to deliver efficient performance without any overheating issues. Building on the success of the Exynos 1480, the Exynos 1580 is likely to come with advanced features such as a built-in 5G modem, GNSS, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, and NFC.
While the Exynos 1580 may not be based on Samsung’s 3nm process node, it is still expected to offer significant enhancements over its predecessor. As for the Galaxy A56, set to be launched early next year, users can anticipate improvements in areas such as screen bezels, video recording capabilities, and overall performance without compromising on gaming experiences.
