Plans are in motion to transform the Rainbow and Kirby industrial estate in Yiewsley into a vibrant hub with 400 new homes. The estate, currently a brownfield site situated between the Grand Union Canal and the High Street, is known for generating noise and dust that disturbs nearby residents.
In addition to the residential development, which will include 35% affordable housing, the Cavendish & Gloucester project aims to incorporate working spaces along the High Street and enhance the canalside area. The revitalisation plans also involve the introduction of green spaces and landscaping throughout the estate, including a green link connecting the High Street to the Grand Union Canal.
A new public open space is set to be established, featuring a canalside square and lawn. Surrounding the square, there will be space allocated for a café or bar, adding a social element to the area. For more detailed information on the proposed changes and to provide feedback, interested individuals can visit rainbow-estate.com.
To engage with the local community, the developers will be holding a consultation event for residents to learn more about the plans and engage with the project team. The consultation will take place on Thursday, December 5, at St Matthew’s Church Vicarage on 93 High Street, West Drayton. Residents are invited to drop in anytime between 3.30 and 7.30pm to participate in the discussion and share their thoughts on the transformation of the industrial estate into a vibrant residential and commercial hub.
The redevelopment of the Rainbow and Kirby industrial estate represents an exciting opportunity to revitalise the area, creating a mixed-use development that not only provides much-needed housing but also enhances the local environment and amenities. By incorporating green spaces, working areas, and social venues, the project aims to transform the once noisy and dusty industrial site into a thriving community hub that benefits both residents and businesses in Yiewsley.
