A brand new waiting room and state-of-the-art PET-CT suite were unveiled at the Paul Strickland Scanner Centre in Northwood this week. The Mayor of Hillingdon, Cllr Colleen Sullivan, had the honour of cutting the ribbon to officially open the new facilities, accompanied by Joanne Langfield, chair of the board of trustees, and CEO Claire Strickland.
Claire Strickland, the daughter of the late Dr Paul Strickland who established the centre in 1985 through a significant fundraising effort, was proud to see the expansion of the centre’s capabilities.
The Paul Strickland Scanner Centre, a charitable organisation located alongside the Mount Vernon Cancer Centre, is renowned for its top-notch cancer imaging services for both NHS and private patients. While many of the patients come from the local area, the centre’s reputation for excellence in cancer imaging has attracted patients from around the world, including countries like America and the Middle East.
The recent inauguration of the new waiting room and PET-CT suite marked the culmination of a substantial investment in the scanner centre, made possible by generous donations. Over the past year, the centre has acquired two new MRI scanners, a cutting-edge PET-CT scanner, the newly unveiled waiting room, and a reporting room. Additionally, a radiology information system has been implemented to support the team of consultants in analysing the scan results.
The upgraded scanners boast the ability to produce superior quality images in a shorter amount of time compared to the previous machines, enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of the imaging process. This development signifies a significant advancement in the centre’s capabilities to provide top-notch diagnostic services to its patients.
With the new suite and waiting area now operational, patients can look forward to a more comfortable and efficient experience during their visits to the Paul Strickland Scanner Centre. The investment in cutting-edge technology and enhanced facilities underscores the centre’s commitment to delivering exceptional care and services to those in need of cancer imaging and diagnostic services.
The dedication and support of donors, as well as the hard work of the centre’s staff and leadership team, have been instrumental in bringing these enhancements to fruition. The Paul Strickland Scanner Centre continues to play a vital role in the local community and beyond, ensuring that patients have access to the best possible care and technology for their diagnostic needs.
