South east London bus plans could scrap route 415 and extend another
TfL is consulting on changes affecting routes around Old Kent Road, Tulse Hill and Canary Wharf, alongside improvements that could speed up some Wandsworth journeys.

South east London bus passengers could lose route 415 under TfL proposals, while another route could be extended to take over its section between Elephant & Castle and Old Kent Road. The plans are among several consultations covering bus services and street changes across London.
TfL says it is proposing to withdraw the 415, which runs between Old Kent Road (Tesco) and Tulse Hill Station, because passenger numbers have fallen since the pandemic. Some passengers would lose direct journeys and may need to change buses, including on trips between Old Kent Road, Oval, Brixton and Tulse Hill. The proposals are not confirmed changes.
Which routes could change?
TfL also proposes extending a service that runs between Tooting Broadway Station and Elephant & Castle, from Elephant & Castle to Old Kent Road (Tesco). It would take over the section currently served by the 415. TfL says the extension would create direct links between Old Kent Road and Stockwell, Streatham and Tooting.
On the Superloop, TfL proposes rerouting the SL4 through Wood Wharf at the Canary Wharf end of its route, as part of plans to restructure buses on the Isle of Dogs. Route 37, which runs between Putney Heath and Peckham, is not proposed to change. Instead, a Wandsworth Town Centre improvement scheme could make westbound journeys through Wandsworth two to four minutes faster in the morning peak, according to TfL. The wider scheme includes bus lanes, improved bus stops and road-layout changes.
When do consultations close?
The consultation covering the 415 proposal closes on Sunday, 15 November 2026. TfL’s Isle of Dogs bus restructure consultation, which includes the SL4 diversion, closes on Monday, 16 November. The Wandsworth improvement consultation closes on Friday, 6 November.
TfL has not announced final decisions on the proposals in the information available here. Passengers who use the affected routes may want to check the relevant consultation details and respond before the closing dates.
