Developer Maxis and publisher Electronic Arts (EA) have announced the upcoming expansion pack for The Sims 4, focusing on romance. The new expansion, called The Sims 4 Lovestruck, introduces exciting features that will enhance the way Sims navigate their relationships.
One of the key additions is the Cupid’s Corner app, which allows Sims to create online dating profiles, browse other profiles, match with other Sims, and plan dates. This opens up a world of possibilities for Sims to find love and companionship in the virtual world. The app will feature both characters from the current world and player-created Sims from the online gallery, offering almost limitless dating options.
The expansion also introduces an attraction system that considers Sims’ Turn-Ons and Turn-Offs, influencing their level of attraction to each other and reflecting their compatibility. This system will create four different relationship dynamics – wholesome, steamy, strained, or unpredictable – based on the player’s decisions.
During dates, Sims will have the flexibility to quickly change venues, allowing for more diverse date experiences. The new romantic boundaries system gives players control over how Sims navigate various boundaries such as exclusivity and jealousy in their relationships. Additionally, new items like an adult costume box, shareable treat boxes, and a portable blanket add fun and intimacy to gameplay.
The expansion pack includes two new aspirations, Paragon Partner and Romantic Explorer, as well as a new romance skill that unlocks additional interactions as Sims gain experience. However, not all relationships will have a fairy-tale ending, as Sims who experience too many bad breakups can die of a broken heart. To address this, Sims can seek therapy or pursue a career as a Romance Consultant to help others navigate their relationships.
In addition to these features, The Sims 4 Lovestruck introduces a new world called Ciudad Enamorada, offering a romantic setting with various date spots and upscale venues. The expansion is set to launch on July 25, 2024, and is available for pre-order at the standard price of $39.99 / £34.99. Pre-ordering the expansion before September 5 will also unlock bonus digital items for players to enjoy.
