A major road near London’s busy Charing Cross train station was shut down today due to a police incident. Emergency vehicles, including police officers, a police van, and a fire engine, were seen at the scene on Duncannon Street around 3:30 pm.
A fire fighter was observed extinguishing a fire involving a pile of waste inside a City of Westminster bin lorry. Despite the road closure, train services at Charing Cross station are running normally and unaffected.
Bus routes 139 and 176 are currently on diversion due to the incident. The AA maps statement indicates that the A4 Duncannon Street One Way Street is closed from A400 St Martin’s Place (Trafalgar Square) to Charing Cross Station, causing slow traffic in the area.
We have reached out to the Metropolitan Police and London Fire Brigade for further information on the nature of the incident. As of now, the details remain unconfirmed.
