Traffic on the M25 clockwise near Heathrow Airport has come to a standstill following a multi-vehicle crash that occurred earlier today. The incident has led to the closure of the motorway between junction 15 and 16 near the M40 since 7.30 am this morning.

National Highways, formerly known as HighwaysEAST, has taken to X (Twitter) to advise motorists to explore alternative routes if possible. Currently, there is a backlog of traffic stretching for five miles, resulting in delays of up to 60 minutes for commuters.

Initially, all lanes were shut down to handle the aftermath of the crash. However, as of now, two out of the three lanes have been reopened to alleviate the congestion. Despite this, one lane still remains closed to facilitate the recovery work.

In light of these events, we have reached out to Thames Valley Police and South Coast Ambulance Service to gather more details about the situation and any potential injuries or casualties.

As the situation unfolds, drivers are urged to exercise caution and patience while navigating the affected area. The authorities are working diligently to clear the remaining lane and ensure the safety of all individuals involved in the crash.
