Katie Price has been issued an arrest warrant by a judge for failing to appear in court relating to her bankruptcies. Insolvency and Companies Court Judge Catherine Burton emphasized that Ms. Price had been warned multiple times to attend the hearing but did not show up.
Ms. Price was supposed to answer questions about her finances in a bankruptcy court in London. The judge had previously warned her that she risked arrest if she continued to miss court dates and that evidence needed to be provided if she could not attend.
Judge Burton stated that Ms. Price failed to provide any explanation for her absence and therefore deemed it necessary to issue an arrest warrant. She mentioned that the decision was not taken lightly but that Ms. Price had only offered minimal cooperation and had not provided essential information regarding her bankruptcies.
Katie Price was first declared bankrupt in November 2019 and then again in March of this year due to an unpaid tax bill of over £750,000. In a previous hearing, she was ordered to pay a portion of her monthly income to the trustee for the next three years.
At a public examination hearing, barrister Darragh Connell, representing the trustee, highlighted that crucial information about Ms. Price’s income and assets was still missing. He mentioned that they did not know her whereabouts and that detaining her was necessary to secure her attendance at a future hearing.
Despite Ms. Price’s previous statements about being willing to go to prison to resolve her legal issues, the court has now issued an arrest warrant to ensure her presence in upcoming proceedings. This development underscores the seriousness of the situation and the legal consequences of failing to comply with court orders in bankruptcy cases. It is a stark reminder of the importance of adhering to legal obligations and cooperating fully with the judicial process to resolve financial matters effectively.
