Hillingdon Council has taken a firm stand against serious anti-social behaviour in the borough, securing two closure orders this month in response to reports of criminal activity, drug use, and other disturbances linked to certain properties.

The first closure order was granted on August 7 for a council-owned property in Uxbridge. The decision came after the court reviewed evidence provided by the council, police, and witnesses detailing a range of troubling incidents, including a stabbing, drug dealing, noise disturbances, public nuisance, and fly-tipping.

Following this, a second closure order was obtained on August 14 for a property owned by a registered social housing provider in South Ruislip. Reports from the council and police highlighted issues such as theft, drug-related activities, property damage, noise disturbances, and anti-social behaviour involving the tenant and visitors to the property.

Under the closure orders, access to these properties is restricted for a period of three months, with only the landlord, police, emergency services, and utility providers allowed to enter. Trespassers or unauthorised visitors can face fines, imprisonment, or both.

Cllr Eddie Lavery, Cabinet Member for Residents’ Services, emphasised the council’s commitment to addressing anti-social behaviour and criminal activities that may disrupt the peace and safety of the community. While acknowledging that such incidents are not common, he stressed the importance of taking action when they do occur to protect residents and maintain a harmonious living environment.

Residents are encouraged to report any concerns related to anti-social behaviour by visiting the council’s website at www.hillingdon.gov.uk/safety. By working together and staying vigilant, the community can help ensure that Hillingdon remains a safe and welcoming place for all.
