Urfan Sharif, the father of Sara Sharif, has admitted to lying to jurors in an attempt to blame his wife, Beinash Batool, for their daughter’s death. During questioning at the Old Bailey, Sharif confessed that the accusations he made against his wife of tying up and beating Sara were false. He acknowledged that he had lied and tried to implicate someone else in the case.
Sharif, who stands trial for the murder of his 10-year-old daughter, confessed to brutally beating Sara with a cricket bat, throttling her with his bare hands, and hitting her with a metal pole. Despite admitting to causing her death, he continues to deny the charge of murder, claiming that he did not intend to kill her.
The trial also involves Beinash Batool and Sara’s uncle, Faisal Malik, who all deny the charges of murder and causing or allowing Sara’s death. The prosecutor argued that all defendants must have been aware of the abuse that Sara was subjected to in the house.
During questioning, Sharif admitted to being a bad father and taking responsibility for Sara’s death. He expressed regret for blaming others for his actions and acknowledged his own role in the tragic incident. Despite previous accusations of abusive behavior in past relationships, Sharif maintained that he had only used a cricket bat to hit Sara once and denied hitting her in the head.
The court heard that Sara had suffered multiple fractures in 25 locations on her body, as well as an extremely rare neck injury that was likely caused by repeated blunt force trauma over several weeks. This evidence supports the prosecution’s argument that all defendants were aware of the abuse Sara was enduring.
Despite conflicting statements and attempts to shift blame, Urfan Sharif ultimately admitted that he was responsible for Sara’s death. The trial continues as more details emerge about the tragic case, shedding light on the circumstances that led to the young girl’s untimely death.
