Residents of Hillingdon are being given the opportunity to have their say on a proposed transformation of the Hayes Bridge Retail Park and Heathrow Interchange sites into a digital park. This project aims to create a hub for data centres, which will not only support local businesses but also contribute to the overall economy of the UK.

The development plans include the construction of three new data centre buildings that will directly benefit businesses in the area. Additionally, there are plans for an Innovation Hub to be built on the Uxbridge Road. This hub will serve as a centre for education and community activities, specifically targeting future generations of data scientists.

Matthew Grant, the Development Director for Colt Data Centre Services, the company behind the consultation, emphasised the importance of reliable digital infrastructure in today’s increasingly online world. He highlighted that the Hayes Digital Park project will more than double Colt’s current investment in Hillingdon borough.

Furthermore, Grant discussed the potential job opportunities that will arise from this project. Over the course of a 10-year construction programme, a significant number of jobs will be created for residents. Once the digital park is operational, there will be permanent roles available in various fields such as advanced engineering, technology, operations, and security. Colt Data Centre Services is also collaborating with Uxbridge College to offer apprenticeship positions throughout the building programme.

To engage with the community and gather feedback, a public drop-in event has been scheduled for Wednesday from 4-8pm at Hayes & Yeading United FC, The SkyEx Community Stadium. Residents are encouraged to attend and share their thoughts on the proposed digital park without the need for prior booking.

This consultation presents a valuable opportunity for residents to get involved in shaping the future of their community. By providing input and feedback, individuals can influence the development of the Hayes Digital Park project and ensure that it aligns with the needs and aspirations of the local area. It is essential for community members to participate in such consultations to have a voice in decisions that will impact their surroundings.
