A young man was stabbed at the Notting Hill Carnival today, and the Metropolitan Police have made 38 arrests on the first day of the event. Police officers have also found four knives during their operations. The Metropolitan Police spokesperson stated that while most attendees were there to enjoy themselves, there were some who did not behave appropriately. Due to the knife seizures and the stabbing incident, a Section 60 has been authorised for the Carnival area from 6.05pm to 2am. Failure to comply with such an order could lead to arrest.
Although the exact location of the stabbing has not been disclosed, the Metropolitan Police have deployed 7,000 officers to the Carnival area to ensure crowd control and respond to any incidents. Commander Charmain Brenyah, in charge of policing at the Carnival, previously mentioned the challenging nature of the event due to the large number of attendees.
