Brentford Football Club has successfully secured the services of former Fulham winger Fabio Carvalho from Liverpool in a transfer deal worth £22.5 million. The 21-year-old player played a crucial role in Fulham’s promotion to the Premier League in 2022 before moving to Anfield for £5 million. Since departing Craven Cottage, Carvalho has had loan spells at RB Leipzig and Hull City.
As part of the agreement, Fulham will receive 20 per cent of the transfer fee paid by Brentford, while Liverpool will be entitled to 17.5 per cent of any potential future transfer involving the Portugal under-21 international. Brentford manager Thomas Frank expressed his excitement about the new addition to the team, highlighting Carvalho’s versatility in various attacking positions, particularly as a No. 10 or left-sided forward.
In addition to Carvalho’s signing, Brentford is on the verge of finalizing a loan deal for Swedish midfielder Jens Cajuste from Napoli. The 25-year-old player is expected to join the team temporarily before a permanent transfer estimated at £10 million. Cajuste made the switch to Napoli from French club Reims last year after a stint at FC Midtjylland.
The acquisition of Carvalho and the impending arrival of Cajuste are significant moves for Brentford as they aim to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season. The versatile attacking qualities of Carvalho and the midfield presence of Cajuste are expected to bolster the team’s performance and provide additional options for manager Thomas Frank as they compete in the Premier League. The club’s supporters are eagerly anticipating the debut of these new signings and are hopeful that they will make a positive impact on the team’s campaign.
