BMW’s best-selling all-electric model in the U.S., the BMW i4, has received a slight refresh for the 2025 model year. While there haven’t been any major changes to the battery and powertrain, the new BMW i4 boasts an increased range compared to the previous model year. Some configurations of the i4 can now travel up to 318 miles on a single charge, marking a significant improvement in efficiency.
During the second quarter of 2024, BMW sold 7,066 i4 units in the U.S., which accounts for half of the total 14,081 EV units sold. This means that the BMW i4 outsells other popular models like the i5, i7, and iX combined. The 2025 BMW i4 has already entered production this month and is available in four different versions in the U.S. market: the entry-level i4 eDrive35, the rear-wheel-drive i4 eDrive40, the all-wheel-drive i4 xDrive40, and the performance-oriented i4 M50 xDrive.
One of the most notable updates to the 2025 i4 is the increase in maximum driving range. The i4 eDrive40 with standard 18-inch wheels now offers up to 318 miles of EPA range, which is 17 miles or 5.6% more compared to the previous model year. On the other hand, the all-wheel-drive i4 xDrive40 has seen a slight decrease in range, estimated at 287 miles for the 2025 model.
In terms of pricing, the 2025 BMW i4 comes with slightly higher price tags compared to the 2024 model. The base i4 eDrive40 starts at $57,900, while the all-wheel-drive version starts at $62,300. The performance-oriented i4 M50 is priced at $70,700. Additionally, the destination charge for all models has increased to $1,175.
It’s important to note that the BMW i4 is imported from Europe and does not qualify for the $7,500 federal tax credit when purchasing. However, the tax credit is applicable if you choose to lease the vehicle. With production of the new i4 already underway, customers in the U.S. can expect deliveries to begin in the coming months.
Overall, the 2025 BMW i4 offers improved range, updated pricing, and a variety of model options to cater to different preferences. As BMW’s top-selling EV model, the i4 continues to set the bar for electric vehicle efficiency and performance in the market.
