In 1945, just two years before India’s partition, two young women named Santi and Naz found themselves in a deep friendship despite their different backgrounds – one Sikh and the other Muslim. They shared a love for stealing books, swimming in the lake, and spying on the local heartthrob, completely oblivious to the looming social unrest that would soon tear their families and communities apart.
The story of Santi and Naz is a poignant one that highlights the impact of religious divisions on personal relationships. This powerful narrative is brought to life in a production by The Thelmas, a female-led touring company known for exploring important social, political, and cultural stories in a unique and engaging way.
The upcoming production of “Santi & Naz” will be staged at The Beck Theatre in Hayes as part of a national theatrical tour. Audiences aged 12 and above are invited to witness this moving story unfold on October 11-13. The show will start at 7.30pm on Friday and from 6pm on both Saturday and Sunday.
Tickets for this thought-provoking production are priced at £25 and can be purchased online at www.becktheatre.org.uk. Don’t miss this opportunity to experience a tale of friendship, love, and resilience in the face of societal turmoil.
