A tragic incident occurred in Dagenham today, resulting in the loss of one woman’s life and leaving another woman hospitalized. Emergency services swiftly responded to Ager Avenue following reports of a hit-and-run collision at approximately 1.15pm on August 18. Upon arrival, they discovered a woman in her 50s who was unfortunately pronounced dead at the scene. Another woman, believed to be in her 40s, was promptly transported to the hospital, although her current condition remains undisclosed.

The authorities have engaged in discussions with the driver involved in the accident, a young 18-year-old man. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident. The Metropolitan Police released a statement recounting the events, stating, “Police were alerted at 1.16pm on Sunday, August 18, to Barrett Court, situated near Ager Avenue in Dagenham, following reports of a car colliding with two pedestrians. Officers, alongside the London Ambulance Service (LAS), London Fire Brigade (LFB), and London’s Air Ambulance, promptly attended the scene.”

The spokesperson further added, “Paramedics tended to a woman in her 50s, but tragically, she succumbed to her injuries on-site. Authorities are currently working on confirming her identity and notifying her next of kin. The second woman, aged in her 40s, was taken to the hospital, and her condition remains uncertain at this time. The driver of the vehicle, an 18-year-old male, is cooperating with the police. No arrests have been made thus far. Road closures are in effect, and investigations are actively ongoing.”
