The London Ambulance Service has provided an update following a disturbing incident in Central London involving the stabbing of a young girl and a woman.

The Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) Westminster confirmed the incident on social media platform X, stating that it occurred in Leicester Square at approximately 12:50 pm today. The ambulance service had been contacted a bit earlier, at around 11:36 am.

Upon receiving the call, the London Ambulance Service promptly dispatched an ambulance crew, an advanced paramedic, an incident response officer, and a tactical response unit to the scene. They found two individuals, an 11-year-old girl and a 34-year-old woman, who had sustained injuries and required immediate medical attention. Both victims were swiftly transported to a major trauma centre for treatment, although their current conditions remain undisclosed.

Subsequently, a man was apprehended in connection with the incident and has been placed in police custody. Authorities have stated that there are no additional suspects at large.

A spokesperson from the London Ambulance Service commented on the situation, emphasising the rapid response and quality care provided to the victims. The statement read: “We were alerted to a stabbing incident at Leicester Square at 11:36 am on Monday 12 August. Our team, including ambulance personnel, an advanced paramedic, and an incident response officer, swiftly arrived at the scene. Additionally, members of our tactical response unit were deployed to assist.

The injured child and adult were promptly attended to and subsequently transferred to a major trauma centre for further treatment.”
