The Japanese gaming charts have seen some interesting changes this week, with the new Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition debuting in third place. Despite its release, it only managed to sell 27,391 copies, which is lower than expected for a Nintendo title. The top spot was taken by the Japan-only Powerful Pro Baseball 2024-25, selling 166,947 copies on Switch and 49,210 on PS4.

As a result, Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD has been dethroned after three weeks at number one and now sits in fourth place. Interestingly, Luigi’s Mansion 3 has made a comeback and is now at number eight on the charts. Additionally, the visual novel Mistonia no Kibou -The Lost Delight- has entered the top 10 at ninth place with 5,276 sales.

On the hardware side, the Switch OLED continues to dominate with 45,108 units sold this week, bringing the total to 7,571,700 units. The PS5 follows behind with 30,949 units sold. Surprisingly, the Xbox Series X saw a significant increase in sales, jumping from 397 units to 4,268 units in the past week.

Overall, the gaming charts in Japan show a mix of familiar titles and new releases making an impact.
