This year, students from the University of West London in Ealing showcased their work at the Coningsby Gallery in London’s Fitzrovia. The BA (Hons) Photography and BSc (Hons) Visual Effects students displayed a range of impressive pieces at their graduate show.
The Photography students presented a variety of work, including images capturing night-time strolls along the Thames, explorations of cultural heritage, collages depicting the hustle and bustle of the metropolis, and detailed botanical still life photographs. Each piece showcased the students’ unique perspectives and talents.
On the other hand, the Visual Effects students wowed the audience with their innovative creations. Their work featured captivating images and animations, such as cinematic shots of simulated tsunami effects crashing into cities and neon-lit streets of cyberpunk computer-generated environments. The level of creativity and technical skill demonstrated by the Visual Effects students was truly impressive.
The graduate show was part of UWL’s annual Artsfest, a celebration of the final-year students’ creativity and hard work. The event provides a platform for students from different disciplines, including the London College of Music and the London School of Film, Media, and Design, to showcase their talents in venues across London from May to July.
Angus Luscombe, the course leader for Visual Effects, highlighted the significance of taking the exhibition to central London. He mentioned that this move allowed the students to gain exposure to major employers in the visual effects industry, providing them with valuable networking opportunities and a chance to kickstart their careers.
