Transport for London (TfL) has announced the launch date of a new bus route, the 310, which will start operating on August 31. This new service will connect Golders Green and Stamford Hill for the first time, fulfilling a promise made by Mayor Sadiq Khan during his election campaign earlier this year in response to the local Jewish community’s request for a direct bus service between the two areas.

The 310 bus route will serve residents in the boroughs of Hackney, Barnet, Islington, Camden, and Haringey, with stops at key locations such as Highgate Village, Whittington Hospital, and Finsbury Park along the way. The goal is to provide a safe, accessible, sustainable, and affordable form of public transport that will encourage more people to switch from using cars to public transport, ultimately reducing congestion and improving air quality in the area.

In addition to launching the new service, TfL will also conduct a 12-month consultation to gather feedback from Londoners on how the route is operating and to inform future service plans. This consultation period will allow for community input and ensure that the service meets the needs of the residents along the route.

Mayor Sadiq Khan expressed his satisfaction in being able to deliver on his promise to introduce the new bus route, emphasizing the importance of providing a safe and reliable transportation option for the local Jewish community, especially in light of rising concerns about antisemitism. TfL’s Director of Public Transport Service Planning, Geoff Hobbs, highlighted the importance of customer feedback in shaping the bus network and encouraged everyone to participate in the consultation to help improve the service for all users.

The introduction of the 310 bus route not only connects two areas in North London but also represents a step towards a greener and more sustainable transportation system in the city. By offering a direct bus service between Golders Green and Stamford Hill, TfL aims to make public transport a more attractive option for residents, ultimately contributing to a safer, fairer, and more environmentally friendly London for everyone.
