A young mother named Alana Armstrong, 25, lost her life in a tragic hit-and-run incident while riding an e-bike. The incident occurred when a dark-coloured 4×4 car rammed into the bike, causing Alana and the rider, a man in his twenties, to fall off. Sadly, Alana was pronounced dead at the scene, while the man was hospitalized and had his leg amputated below the knee.
Chief Superintendent Dave Kirby expressed his condolences, mentioning that Alana leaves behind a six-year-old son and a grieving family who will never get to see her again. The police have launched a murder investigation and are seeking information about a dark-colored Land Rover Discovery, believed to be from the years 2004 to 2009, in the Pleasley area before 8 pm on Tuesday.
Although two individuals from the Skegby area of Nottinghamshire were previously arrested in connection with the incident, they have been released without charge. The police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the individuals responsible for this tragic hit-and-run.
Ch Supt Kirby emphasized the importance of any information that could lead to the apprehension of the suspects. He also mentioned the significant amount of information received from the public and urged anyone with CCTV footage along the A617 towards New Houghton to come forward.
In closing, Ch Supt Kirby reiterated the devastation felt for Alana’s son, family, and friends, promising to do everything possible to bring those responsible to justice.
