This Christmas Eve, Santa Claus is in for a treat as half of Britons are planning to leave out mince pies for him. According to a study by Iceland Foods, a whopping 26.9 million mince pies will be laid out for Father Christmas, with 75,000 households also planning to leave some booze to help him unwind.
The tradition of leaving out mince pies for Santa is a popular one, with 50% of Brits expected to take part. This generous gesture extends to leaving out a single mince pie for 19% of households, two for 19%, and three or more for 11%.
In addition to mince pies, some households are going the extra mile to ensure Santa has the energy to make it through the night. A small percentage (2%) even plan to leave out a ready meal or pizza for him, while others will satisfy his sweet tooth with biscuits, chocolates, and sweets.
To wash down the mince pies, 2.3 million households will leave out a glass of milk, while 75,000 will opt for a sherry tipple. This thoughtful gesture is meant to keep Santa going as he delivers presents to children across the UK.
In a festive twist, Iceland Foods’ mince pies have been given the seal of approval by Father Christmas himself. After rigorous testing by over 30 Santas, Iceland’s mince pies were the only ones to meet Santa’s high standards. The Santas praised the pastry perfection and Christmas magic of Iceland’s mince pies, declaring them the best of the bunch.
Richard Walker, Executive Chairman of Iceland Foods, expressed his delight at the recognition, urging households to choose Iceland’s mince pies for Santa this year. The official testing video released by Iceland Foods showcases the Santas’ reactions as they taste-tested ‘hundreds’ of mince pies, ultimately choosing Iceland’s as the top choice.
In addition to mince pies, Iceland’s Christmas desserts such as the Ultimate Raspberry & Vanilla Macaron Wreath, Caramel Dome Gateau, Luxury Sticky Toffee Snowflake, The Daily Bakery Christmas Donuts, and Christmas Pudding also received Santa’s approval after taste testing.
This Christmas, as you prepare to celebrate with family and friends, consider leaving out some mince pies for Santa. And if you want to ensure he has the best treat possible, opt for Iceland’s mince pies – the only ones approved by the man in the red suit himself.
