The Mayor of Uxbridge illuminated the Christmas lights in the town centre last Friday. Cllr Colleen Sullivan switched on the lights in a festive event that drew a crowd of onlookers. Attendees were treated to complimentary mulled wine, mince pies, tea, and coffee as they watched the ceremony unfold.

The atmosphere was further enhanced by musical performances from the Hillingdon Music Service Brass Band, as well as carol singing by various schools and choirs. Among the participants were Dr Triplett’s C of E Primary School, Grange Park Junior School, Hermitage Primary School, St Bernadette Catholic Primary School, and William Byrd Primary Academy.

Council leader Ian Edwards expressed his delight at the turnout, stating that such events provide families with a wonderful opportunity to come together. He also encouraged the community to support local businesses by shopping locally during the festive season.

In addition to the Christmas lights in Uxbridge, Hillingdon Council is backing 32 other lighting schemes across the borough. Residents can look forward to a variety of Christmas activities in borough libraries, theatres, and garden centres in the coming weeks.
