Uxbridge College has successfully acquired the historic Barra Hall building in Hayes through a sale completed by Hillingdon Council. This acquisition will lead to the creation of more than 70 educational spots for students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), while also ensuring that the significant building remains an integral part of the local community.
The colleges involved in this project, including Harrow, Richmond, and Uxbridge Colleges, are planning to refurbish the Grade II listed Barra Hall building to cater to young individuals over the age of 16. This initiative is part of Uxbridge College’s broader expansion efforts, aiming to enhance educational opportunities for a wider range of students.
Cllr Jonathan Bianco, the Cabinet Member for Corporate Services and Property at Hillingdon Council, expressed his satisfaction with the sale, stating, “We’re delighted to be able to safeguard this beautiful building’s future and secure its continued use for the community.” This sentiment highlights the council’s commitment to preserving local heritage and providing valuable resources for its residents.
The Barra Hall building, formerly known as the Manor House, boasts a picturesque location overlooking Barra Hall Park. Initially serving as one of the council’s children’s centre sites, the building had been vacant since February 2024 following the completion of the new Hayes Family Hub.
