Long-serving Councillor Douglas Mills has decided to step down from his position in the Hillingdon Council Cabinet after an impressive 22 years of service. Cllr Mills, who previously held the role of Cabinet Member for Corporate Services, has been a dedicated member of the council since joining the first Cabinet in 2002 as Member for Performance and Regeneration. Despite leaving his Cabinet position, he will continue to serve as a ward councillor for Ruislip Manor.
Taking his place in the Cabinet is Councillor Steve Tuckwell, who represents the South Ruislip ward. Cllr Tuckwell will now be responsible for overseeing the newly-created Planning, Housing, and Growth portfolio. This change has led to a rebalancing of responsibilities among three other Cabinet members:
– Cllr Martin Goddard now oversees Finance and Transformation
– Cllr Jonathan Bianco takes on the role of Deputy Leader, Corporate Services, and Property
– Cllr Eddie Lavery is responsible for Community and Environment
On the other hand, Cllr Susan O’Brien, who serves as the Cabinet Member for Children, Families, and Education, and Cllr Jane Palmer, the Cabinet Member for Health and Social Care, will continue in their current roles without any changes.
This reshuffling of positions within the Hillingdon Council Cabinet is effective immediately, marking a new chapter in the council’s leadership. As Cllr Mills steps down and new members take on their roles, the council aims to continue serving the community effectively and addressing the various needs of its residents.
