A railway line in Wales had to be shut down after two trains crashed into each other on Monday evening, as reported by the police.
The British Transport Police responded to the incident that took place near Llanbrynmair, Powys, following reports of a low-speed collision between the two trains. Paramedics, fire and rescue teams, as well as Dyfed Powys Police, were also present at the scene, and the situation was described as ongoing.
The trains involved in the collision were the Transport for Wales 6.31pm service from Shrewsbury to Aberystwyth and the Transport for Wales 7.09pm service from Machynlleth to Shrewsbury, according to Network Rail and Transport for Wales in a joint statement. They confirmed that the railway line had been closed and that they were cooperating with the emergency services to manage the situation.
The British Transport Police reported that they received a call about the collision at 7.29pm and immediately responded to the scene near Llanbrynmair. Additionally, a coastguard helicopter and firefighters were present to assist in the response efforts.
